Landscape Architecture Faculty Lead Urban Landscape Workshop in Japan

Department of Landscape Architecture Head Ron Henderson and Landscape Architecture Professor Sean Burkholder direct an urban landscape design workshop at Chiba University at the invitation of Professor Toru Mitani. The workshop, Edogawa Crossing, addressed ecological, economic, and urban spatial issues in the Tokyo Metropolitan area, and along the Edo River. The project framed a broader discussion of Tokyo’s position as a unique city of multiple rivers and its long-standing relationship with a host of catastrophic ecological forces. Henderson, Stuckeman School chair of Integrative Design, also gave a public lecture "Shallow  l  Water  l  Cities" that framed the work of his studio, L+A Landscape Architecture, and Burkholder's work within the context of these ecological settings and forces.
